[04 Aug 2006|12:49am] |
Just before our love got lost you said, "I am as constant as a northern star." And I said, "Constantly in the darkness Where's that at? If you want me I'll be in the bar."
On the back of a cartoon coaster In the blue TV screen light I drew a map of Canada Oh Canada With your face sketched on it twice
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh I could drink a case of you, darling And I would still be on my feet Oh I would still be on my feet
I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time you told me, you said, "Love is touching souls" Surely you touched mine 'Cause part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh I could drink a case of you, darling And still, I'd be on my feet I would still be on my feet
I met a woman She had a mouth like yours She knew your life She knew your devils and your deeds And she said, "Go to him, stay with him if you can But be prepared to bleed"
Oh but you are in my blood You're my holy wine You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And still I'd be on my feet Oh I would still be on my feet

 | You scored as I - Magician. The Magician, represents those aspects of the personality traditionally considered "masculine". He is in control. He knows how things work. He takes action and makes things happen. One that operates through the power of Will rather than brute force. The Magician represents the application of knowledge. The Magician creates his desired reality. When this card appears in a Tarot spread it indicates the attainment of goals through the application of knowledge and Will. If badly aspected in a spread, this card can represent abuse of power. It can indicate manipulation of others, trickery and deception.

Two headed boy All floating in glass The sun it has passed Now it's blacker than black I can hear as you tap on your jar I am listening to hear where you are I am listening to hear where you are
Two headed boy Put on sunday shoes And dance round the room to accordion keys With the needle that sings in your heart Catching signals that sound in the dark Catching signals that sound in the dark We will take off our clothes And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside Now your eyes ain't moving now They just lay there in their climb
Two headed boy With pulleys and weights Creating a radio played just for two In the parlor with a moon across her face And through the music he sweetly displays Silver speakers that sparkle all day Made for his lover who's floating and choking with her hands across her face And in the dark we will take off our clothes And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside Now your eyes ain't moving now They just lay there in their climb
Two headed boy There is no reason to grieve The world that you need is wrapped in gold silver sleeves Left beneath Christmas trees in the snow And I will take you and leave you alone Watching spirals of white softly flow Over your eyelids and all you did Will wait until the point when you let go

96% of the aspects of my life are going pretty shitty right now. creatively, however, i'm on fire. so, put simply, it is confirmed once again that in order for me to be a remotely productive person i must be more or less unhappy. that seems pretty twisted and sacrificial to me. let the party begin.

[15 Jun 2006|02:44am] |
"From then on i had her in my memory with so much clarity that i could do what i wanted with her. I changed the color of her eyes according to my state of mind: the color of water when she woke, the color of syrup when she laughed, the color of light when she was annoyed. I dressed her according to the age and condition that suited my changes of mood: a novice in love at twenty, a parlor whore at forty, the queen of Babylon at seventy, a saint at one hundred. We sang Puccini love duets, Augustin Lara boleros, Carlos Gardel tangos, and we confirmed once again that those who do not sing cannot even imagine the joy of singing. Today i know it was not a hallucination but one more miracle of the first love of my life at the age of ninety."

i am livejournaling this [despite/because of?] the fact that no one will read this except leandra, and maybe lisa or my sister. i'm basically just pretty flipped out, and want to vent less than semipublicly, but more than entirely privately.
so, in my history class, we're watching Schindler's List. now obviously, this is a sad and creepy movie, and we were at a particularly sad and creepy part. so when the bell to end fifth period rings today, i am already sad and creeped out. then i walk outside, and i am surrounded by a chaotic youthful stupor. the halls of my school are honestly ridiculous. there is inane laughter. there are at least three couples devouring each other's faces. they are disenfranchised and careless, but they are happy. i cannot relate to this joyful apathy at all. i am not being pretentious, or uptight, or anything of the sort. my generation scares me. it worries me, upsets me, that i am part of it. these are my peers. am i seen like that by others? am i actually like that?
there has always been an incongruency in my life between what i am and what i want to be/know i could be/how i see myself. and i really do not have the ability to objectively evaluate how close how i am is to how i see myself and how i want to be. i know/hope that i am an intellectual, and maybe even a little bit hip, but i could be so completely off-base in this and i would never know. i want you to respect me, but i do not know whether or not i am worthy of your respect. in addition, if you are between the ages of 13 and 21, odds are i don't have much respect for you. obviously there are some exceptions, but i just said odds are.
i go through cycles of thinking that i am different than these joyously apathetic, and then thinking that i am just as bad. i know every aspect of myself. i know my intellect and my interests. i only know what i see about those kids i saw in the B building today: the slobbery, cursing, laughin' and a'runnin' part of them. maybe i only think less of them because they are not showing me the parts i would be inclined to respect. and what if my intellect is just a delusion on my part? it is entirely possible that i created this whole idea of myself for my own benefit, and every bit of it is fallacious. i will never know.
so what can i do? i can sleep, much much more than i need to.

Modest Mouse - Bukowski
Woke up this morning and it seemed to me, That every night turns out to be A little more like Bukowski. And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read. But God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole? God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole?
Well we sat on the edge of the river, the crowd screamed, "Sacrifice the liver!" If God takes life, he's an Indian giver. So tell me now why, you'll tell me never. Who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak?
Well see what you wanna see. You should see it all. Well take what you want from me. You deserve it all. Nine times out of ten our hearts just get dissolved. Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall.
But one time out of ten, everything is perfect for us all. Well I want a better place or just a better way to fall. Here we go!
If God controls the land and disease, keeps a watchful eye on me, If he's really so damn mighty, my problem is I can't see, well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak? Well who would wanna be? Who would wanna be such a control freak?
Evil home stereo, what good songs do you know? Evil me, oh yeah I know, what good curves can you throw?
Well all that icing and all that cake, I can't make it to your wedding, but I'm sure I'll be at your wake. You were talk, talk, talk, talkin' in circles that day, when you get to the point make sure that I'm still awake, OK?
Went to bed and didn't see why every day turns out to be a little bit more like Bukowski. And yeah, I know he's a pretty good read. But God who'd wanna be? God who'd wanna be such an asshole?

"Charles Bukowski, born 8/16/20, Andernach, Germany. Brought to America at the age of two. Eighteen or twenty books of prose and poetry, Bukowski, after publishing prose in 'Story' and 'Portfolio,' stopped writing for ten years. He arrived in the charity ward of the Los Angeles County General Hospital, hemorrhaging as a climax to a ten-year drinking bout. Some say he didn't die. After leaving the hospital he got a typewriter and began writing again - this time poetry. He later returned to prose and gained some fame with his column, 'Notes of a Dirty Old Man.' After 14 years in the Post Office he resigned at age 50, he says, to keep from going insane. He now claims to be unemployable and eats typewriter ribbons."
